CHARACTER NAME: Callo Merlose
CHARACTER SERIES: Vagrant Story

Backtagging: Yes!
Threadhopping: Generally ask first, please.
Fourthwalling: No, thank you.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I have a social phobia, so if I suddenly stop replying, apologies in advance. It probably won't have been triggered by you, and I'll usually be back in a few hours/the next day.

Hugging this character: Yes
Kissing this character: Yes
Flirting with this character: Yes
Fighting with this character: Yes - expect inexperience and an attempt to run if it goes too close to lethal.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Yes - please run anything by me first.
Killing this character: With permission only, though I'm up for it.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: A logical mind, with walls and paranoia. She will almost certainly notice you if you pry, but she has little in the way of shielding or techniques for blocking. Whatever response she uses to push you back out will vary depending on how panicked she is (and how bad the dice roll gets ^^).

Warnings: Callo's an untrained and powerful empath/telepath, and cannot control her powers as of yet. Please let me know if you're not okay with Callo tagging you because of this!

Reverse Permissions:
Callo is something known as a heart-seer; when talking to someone, if she desires to know more or senses that they are hiding something, she will see an image of them to one side, speaking their innermost thoughts. She cannot see anything that they do not know, and likewise the information will be tainted by their own biases.
She also sense emotions, though this is a burgeoning power she does not realise is present as she is still a beginner.
It's possible to block your thoughts; telepaths with training, magic shielding, etc, should manage this. It is also possible to divert your thoughts for some time if you realise she is reading them by inflicting pain upon yourself, or very intensely focusing upon some jiggety rhyme in your mind.
As she is still untrained, her telepathy is limited to the conversation at the time - your thoughts have to be angled in the direction of the information she wants to know for her to be able to sense it. So she could not pull information about your bombs from your thoughts if the conversation was currently about food, but conversely if you vaguely remember 'that one time I broke my brother's arm', she'll likely get a whole more detail than was actually thought about.

Ami/Mercury ([personal profile] waterfell):

What Ami tends to hide most are her softer or more uncertain feelings. She also tends to keep info about the house to herself at times if she thinks doing so could be more useful, or if it hits on something more personal (if mentioning she learned xyz could threaten one of her own secrets for example). I'll try to keep aware and feed a bit of info when we thread.

She is very likely to use "blocking her thoughts by consciously thinking of something else" if she's aware they're being read. I've done events in other games where thought bubbles showed the characters' thoughts, and she hid hers behind bunches of thought-bubbles of math equations, for example, once she realized it was happening.

Eilonwy ([personal profile] unshodden):

Eilonwy tends to be very forthright, so there won't be much hidden. She would consider thought-reading to be quite rude, but not really be angry once she realizes Callo can't help it and isn't doing it intentionally. She doesn't have specific shielding, but she has massive intuition in canon that seems to come from her enchantress heritage, so she may or may not be quick to realize something is going on if Callo pokes her brain, depending on situation and your preferences, too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Okay, Mukuro is more likely to sideways dodge; the main things he hides have to do with having affiliations within the house anymore, at least. Of course, he's subject to Spade's firefly, and Spade's safe, I think?

Giotto ([personal profile] passed_torch) is another one where whether he's hiding things or not depends on how he takes to Callo; a lot of his background he's not likely to more than gloss over rather than hide.
HOWEVER HE'S ALSO LIKELY TO LIE LIKE A RUG ABOUT HAVING TIES WITHIN THE HOUSE AND I'M SURE HER SEEING HIS FIRST CHAT WITH THE ARCHITECT WOULD BE KIND OF HILARIOUS.

Soma ([personal profile] eternal_night_ends) is LOUSY at keeping secrets. He'll probably sanity-dodge the "I'm Matthias" off and on though he's getting better about it, and he'll probably be dodgy about having gotten behind the clock/his ties to Miss.

Kuja ([personal profile] silver_lucifer) will avoid/dodge/lie about being one of Lyhn's students, will introduce himself as nothing more than a merchant/artificer, will use the fact that he's working as a healer here as a dodge, etc., etc., it'll be hilarious.

Saguru... doesn't have much to lie about though he might dodge the agreement with the Phantasms.

David is probably going to face-first any time he gives any indication that he's just an empathic human or is the age he looks or is -actually- helpless and not just functionally helpless etc. etc. etc..

The older Mukuro will not take kindly to the intrusion upon his thoughts/feelings, and if he doesn't simply shut himself up even tighter then he'll actively push/hurt the invading mind until it retreats. He doesn't like having people rummaging through his head, thank you very much, though he might skip over inflicting actual mental pain if he understands that Callo can't help doing it. Expect him to be annoyed if she can't find a way to reign it in after some time though. If she's lucky and approaches him right, he might even show her how to.

(All that said, I'm open to her trying to read him. Just don't expect it to be successful. I'll detail more about what she might see if the situation calls for it.)

Oh BOY. Blanket yes on heart-seer permissions; Asch hides/is in denial about a lot of things so I'll just note those as they come up if/when relevant.

she is however likely to get a stronger sense than from most people, because Asch is tied to a part of his world's magic that deals with memory among other things, and he's not especially good at using it, either.

Heart-see away! Walter has no innate resistance to such a thing, as he is both human and has a pronounced tendency of projecting his emotions. However, he will try to redirect his thoughts, leave, or even attack her if he catches her doing it without his permission, depending on the context of the scene.
